Spirits of the Forest Masks

Hello, if you are new to my work, welcome. As my usual patrons know, I strive for one of a kind pieces. With an emphases on originality, I seek inspirations, or moments of creativity that inevitably present them selves during the process of working what is probably the toughest medium for mask making, leather.

Hand stretched and well pecked, each piece of leather is worked to loosen the fibers which make up the body of the leather, this is done after the leather is soaked in warm water, and before being stretched over special forms witch I continually reformulate. Then, as the drying process occurs, the mask is carefully worked using special tools, always progressing toward what a given piece of leather may have to offer, I also rely on my knowledge of creative design to capitalize on moments inspiration as I search for that perfect mask. Finally, the mask is treated with an ancient staining process or special coloring techniques.The end result is hopefully a mask of timeless quality, worthy of even the finest collection.
